In my final year at The University of Nottingham I undertook an individual research project into a novel locomotion technique for virtual reality known as directed translational gain.
This project involved the design, implementation and testing of a directed gain system, prototyped in the Unity game engine, with my findings being put into the form of an ACM style paper.
As a result of the project I was abl
e to isolate a (to my knowledge) previously undescribed issue inherent to directed translational gain which has serious implications for its feasibility as a locomotion technique in consumer level VR experiences.
Sample code and my final report can be found here on github.
